Nothing changes a face as quickly as defined brows and a clean lash line – and nothing goes wrong as quickly as a line that is too hard. Three pencils take on three clearly separate jobs for us. Here is what each one is for and how to use it.
Eyebrow Definer: fill brows, don't draw them
The INCEPTION Eyebrow Definer comes in three tones: Fair for blonde and light brown brows, Cha for medium brown and Kaffee for dark brows and dark skin. Important: always choose one tone lighter than the hair – brows that are too dark look harsh.
- Brush the hairs up and outwards with the No. 10 eyebrow brush .
- Set fine, short strokes with the definer in the direction of growth – only in the gaps, not across the whole brow.
- The start of the brow stays lightest; the colour increases towards the arch and fades out at the tail.
- Brush once more – that distributes the colour and takes away the harshness.
Tip for dark skin: soften Kaffee with the brush so the brow does not look heavier than the rest of the face. With very dense brows, often just the tail is enough.
Eye Definer: a soft frame for the eye
The INCEPTION Eye Definer is a creamy kohl pencil for the waterline and the lash base. Raven is deep black for an intense eye, Polaire a light nude that opens the waterline and wakes up tired eyes, Iro a soft brown for everyday – particularly flattering on fair skin and light eyes.
Application: run the pencil directly along the lash base, then smudge slightly with the No. 9 pencil brush . For a smoky effect, blend Raven upwards on the upper lid with the No. 6 blending brush .
Eyeliner: the precise line
For a clear lash line that lasts even in summer and at the pool, the waterproof INCEPTION eyeliner is made. The slim No. 12 eyeliner brush draws the line more precisely than any felt tip:
- Rest your elbow, keep the eye half open.
- Draw the line in three short sections from the inside out rather than in one stroke.
- The wing follows the line of the lower lash line upwards – mark it first, then connect.
- With hooded lids, keep the line thin and start the wing a little higher.
The right order
Brows first – they frame the face. Then eyeshadow from the DUO palette, then Eye Definer or eyeliner, mascara last. If you apply eyeshadow after the liner, you smudge the line.
