Make-up trends autumn – winter 2024
Summer is drawing to a close and the cold season is just around the corner. Slowly but surely the days are getting shorter and the first leaves are already falling from the trees. Whoever says change of season also says change of look and wardrobe. Here are some make-up ideas that are on trend to be beautiful and elegant and master this change of season.
Our make-up designer Dorothy Roffat shares with you the looks that will be the hits of this winter season. In the coming season there is something for everyone. From confident lip looks to smoky eyes to brightly coloured eyeliners and blush.
Red lips
An absolute classic for absolute refinement. Our lips can finally be the centre of attention again. When it is cold and monotonous, a little more colour lifts the mood. Burgundy or dark cherry lipstick makes your lips glow and ensures elegant, chic and attractive lips. Your greatest asset, which requires very little make-up, is the bright red lipstick (see Rama with a glossy finish or Avenue with a matte finish).
Rosy cheeks
When it is freezing cold outside, your cheeks turn rosy. If you cannot wait for that moment, or if your cheeks are not naturally rosy in the cold, you can create it by opting for pink, peach and nude blush (see Peach, Nude and Plum).
Metallic eyeshadow
Highlight your eyes with iridescent or metallic eyeshadow. Metallic eyeshadow was very popular in the 90s and is making a big comeback on our eyes. If you are a fan of eyeliner, now is the time to use it. But be measured when applying. Subtlety is the key word.
Smoky grunge
Let yourself be enchanted by the look of your grunge idols from "The Cure" era. Autumn and above all winter are considered the dark season. Clearly, the weather and the lack of sun do not necessarily put us in a good mood.
Fashion and make-up follow this gloomy trend too. No view into the distance because of the fog, foggy waking up in the morning because of the bed that holds us, the mirror is fogged up too, hence equally foggy make-up, as we cannot see clearly due to tiredness and thus a lack of precision. Indeed, a general state of smoky. (Ref: grey, black, blue)
Update: Fall/Winter 2026/2027 Trends
Two years on, eye makeup is still trending — only the colors have evolved. After years of the minimalist "clean girl" look, bold color is making a comeback on the lids: from matte misty grey to shimmering silver-grey, from deep blackberry tones to warm, rust-toned copper.
Blush has a new trend of its own: "blush draping" — instead of a targeted dab of color, the blush is blended generously upward to sculpt the cheekbones. On lips, high shine beats matte: "glossy lips" bring an irresistible mirror-like finish.
